Backlog Busting, a Garage Sale and a Girls Night Out #TheWeekThatWas

September 27, 2014 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 4 Comments

It has been a very long and full week. A lot of it was spent in the kitchen cooking breakfast,  baon and dinner. I really enjoy cooking for the family, even though it really tires me out. I’ve also been remembering to post my kitchen creations on Instagram, and that is a good thing. One of my winner dishes of the week was Sweet and Sour Pork Meatballs. These are the meatballs. The rest of the steps are on my IG page!

Another thing that kept me busy this past week was our batch garage sale. Little MrC’s batch will be having their First Holy Communion this coming school year, and this was one of the fundraising projects that the Parents Association put together for it. It was fun working with the other moms, sorting and pricing the items for sale. The kiddo also enjoyed playing with the other kids who hung around while the moms worked. THe best part of all this was that I got to get rid of some of the things we no longer use at home. Yay for finally starting on my purging project! I did buy some cook books and cooking magazines, though, but those I’ll be able to use for sure. And I got all of these for only 200Pesos!

I happily capped off this crazy week in the best way ever, with a girls’ night out with my ABC loves and our significant others. We spent the evening at Century City Mall in Makati, which was nice and clean and spacious. It was my first time there, and I already told MrC that I want to go back and go shopping. Soon. We had dinner in what I now fondly think of as Kessaku’s cousin who lives in Makati, Yumi Japanese Restaurant. I’ve gushed over Kessaku several times here on the blog, and you can look forward to a blog post gushing about Yumi real soon.

After dinner came drinks at 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub. It has been forever since MrC and I went to a gig, and so I was really happy to be at 12 Monkeys. I can’t wait to catch one of my favorite bands there coz the sound in the place is really good. It’s nice and comfy, too, with amazing food. Perfect for me, as I am quickly becoming tanders (aka old and boring). Blogging about this experience soon, too.

My greatest achievement this past week was posting every day and significantly cutting down my blogging backlog. Yay!!! Here’s a roundup of posts that came out this week. Please read them?

  • Back-To-Back Tagaytay Weekend #FoodTrip Part1: QiWellness Living
  • Speedy and Tasty — Easy Meals From a Microwave

  • A Child Is Born: A Breastfeeding And Newborn Care Workshop
  • Back-To-Back Tagaytay Weekend #FoodTrip Part2: Taal Vista Hotel

Quiet Time + What’s Blogging This Week

June 23, 2014 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 8 Comments

Yep, quiet time is exactly what I need right now. Last week was intensely busy. We started off with two days of pampering and R&R with a few bloggers from the south at Fringe Salon. Then I spent Wednesday at home so that I could write, but I also made sure to sneak in my last batch of school errands. On Thursday, I had the ever-so-enriching opportunity to sit down with a WAHM friend and start-up blogger for a quick chat. I love that I am now able to give advice and help people who want to start their own blogs or begin a work at home career.I fell that these little meetings allow me to give back for all the help that I received three years ago when I was the newbie.

Friday was the most relaxing day of last week, with only a few grocery errands and some writing on my list. I actually got to grab a yummy lunch at S&R with my mom. Saturday started mighty early with day one of the June-July Futbol Funatics camp at Cuenca. Then I went straight to Fringe afterwards for our last blogger event day. Sunday was an early football day as well, and then afterwards, the boys and I spent time with our relatives on the Cuyugan side. It was certainly a long, but super rewarding week.

Today was mostly spent at home. I decided I would take it easy because I feel a cold coming on. True enough, I fell asleep on my mom’s couch, my favorite spot in her room. Guess my body really was asking me to slow down. Taking even one day to slow down for some quiet time can really make a huge difference in the ever so eventful life of a mom or dad. Do you guys agree? Now that I’ve taken my day off, I know that I’m ready to face the week. Of course, there’s gonna be writing involved. Lots of it, if I hope to really make a dent in my crazy backlog. Here’s what you can look forward to reading about on the blog in the next few days.

  • My new baon plan for the next two weeks
  • Our lunch experience at Wooden Spoon Restaurant
  • The amazing sweet treats of Pink Wasabi
  • My extremely overdue #BetterMe post. For real this time.

What do you guys do to get even a few minutes of quiet time in the middle of a busy day, week or month?

Schedule Shift + What’s Blogging This Week

June 2, 2014 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 8 Comments

I know that some schools in Manila officially opened school year 2014-2015 today. We officially begin classes next week. To make our transition from lazy summer mode to school mode easier on all of us, MrC and I decided that we would officially switch to an earlier schedule starting today. The early schedule actually started last night for the little guy, who was successfully asleep by 8:30PM.

Zzzz

I, on the other hand, have been up since 5. I know that this isn’t early for a lot of you, but remember I am a 7-8 hours of sleep kind of girl, and last night I made the mistake of watching The Notebook after the boys went to bed, and of course I had to finish it. I also always end up bawling while watching that movie, and so I had to take a few extra minutes to console myself and blow my nose before I could finally sleep.

I have quite a few things on my to do list today, including a lot of writing. Summer has been great, but it’s time to pull myself out of vacation mode and start working on my backlog, for real. I’m carrying over a couple of posts that I originally wanted to publish last week, but never got around to writing. Also adding two more, including a recipe post and the return of the baon plan. Exciting? So, yeah, here’s what I promise hope to write about this week.

  • Family lunch at Lasa for MrC’s birthday
  • My #BetterMe experience with the SoMoms, all about investing in yourself
  • The recipe for MrC’s birthday Roast Beef + the return of the baon plan
  • My Fringe Salon date with my mom and neighbor, Michelle

I am seriously fighting the urge to go back to sleep right now, so I think that another cup of coffee is in order. What’s on your to do list today?

Summer Is Ending + What’s Blogging This Week

May 26, 2014 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 4 Comments

While we were having dinner earlier tonight, I heard the familiar croaks of Froggy Friend, the frog who lives in our garden and keeps us safe from Dengue-carrying mosquitoes. I am scared of frogs, in case you don’t remember, so I have tried to paint a friendly picture of Froggy Friend in my mind, for my own sanity and peace of mind.

Thing is, Froggy Friend has been silent all summer. His loud croaking tonight is a not-so-subtle reminder that summer is officially coming to a close. As is the super strong rain that’s falling outside as I write this. In exactly two weeks, we are all shifting back to school mode. Time to say goodbye to late nights and lazy mornings.

Soccer Mom-ing
Soccer Mom-ing

This has been a spectacular summer. I was chatting with my friend Martine on Facebook a few days ago, and I told her how I really enjoyed being a soccer mom and spending time with the little boy. I love that the boys and I got to spend two amazing days at Pico de Loro Cove. We’ve been watching more movies and TV shows, reading more books, and I’ve been crocheting more, too. I am loving the slowness of this summer, and on some days I actually feel like I, too, am on a 2-month break. It’s a really nice change from last year, when I had to overload on work.

Summer Family Fun

The downside is that there have really been a number of lazy, unproductive summer days for me, at least as far as writing and blogging is concerned. It’s nothing that I can’t make up for, though, so I suppose it isn’t THAT bad, right? So, for this week, here’s a peek at what I’ve got lined up:

  • My immensely fun and yummy lunch with fellow mommy bloggers at Sweet Bella Cafe in Molito
  • A review of a fairly new restaurant here in Alabang called Lasa, which we tried during MrC’s birthday weekend
  • The super mega delayed post about my #BetterMe experience with the SoMoms about investing in yourself
  • And a quick showcase of the pretty things that have come off of my crochet hook this summer
A sweet treat at Sweet Bella

I’m excited to share all of these stories with you. I am also looking forward to making the most out of thee last two weeks of summer vacation with the little boy. How about you guys, any last-minute plans for the summer?
