We are definitely ending 2015 on a high note, and I’m so happy to have been able to share so many of this year’s great moments with you guys.

Last November, Moms in Manila had the chance to take the New Pampers Baby Dry 99.9% Dryness Challenge at Robinson’s Place Manila. Those in attendance were given the chance to bet on either Pampers or their diaper of choice, and see which one was truly able to keep babies dry.
First, blue liquid was poured down a tube, straight to the diapers, so you could see how fast each one would absorb the liquid. While other brands struggled to take in the fluid, Pampers was able to absorb it all in no time.
As a mom of a kid with very sensitive skin, I can’t stress enough how important this is. The faster your diaper can absorb baby pee, the less time it spends in contact with their skin, meaning less chances of rashes. So that’s a win for Pampers in my book.
After all the liquid was absorbed, a paper towel was placed over the full diapers, followed by a 5lb weight. It was a win for Pampers again when, after the weight was removed, you could see that the paper towel stayed dry.
Meanwhile, on top of the other diaper lay a stained blue, soaking wet paper towel. What a nightmare it would be if the wet towel was your baby’s precious little behind!
Now obviously my Little MrC is no longer in nappies, so it’s been a while since I’ve had to fret over my choice of diaper. I did ask some friends, though, which brand they preferred, and a lot really said that they go for Pampers. My mommy blogger friend, Frances, is one, and she said she really super loves Pampers Baby Dry.
Kaity, another fellow mommy blogger, says, “Pampers is a trusted brand that’s why I use it for my 2 boys. I love that it doesn’t irritate their skin and keeps them dry for a long time. It doesn’t sag and it doesn’t have himolmol.”
One of my oldest friends, Jan-B, also bets on Pampers for her son, Noah. She says, “I use Pampers for my son because it fits him well enough to give me assurance that there wont be leaks. Pampers also has no weird smell, unlike some brands. I also like Pampers because my child can use it for a longer time compared to other brands.”
I’d most likely pick Pampers, too, if I had a baby. I mean, how could you go wrong with a brand that’s trusted by so many moms, right?
Betting on Pampers gave moms a chance to win great prizes at the Manila event, and today mommies in Cebu are getting to experience this as well. Next week will be CDO’s turn. What a great way to kick off the holidays! ๐

Fact: Over the weekend, I did two things that I never thought I would ever do – Launch a crochet business and sponsor an event.
Anyone who has asked me over the last few years if I would ever consider selling the stuff I crochet would tell you that my default answer is “No, because this is my stress-reliever, and I don’t want it to turn into something stressful.”
Well, somewhere between moving houses, my brain being fried from writing, and the search for something more meaningful and enjoyable to do, I decided to just go ahead and give this whole Crochet by MrsC thing a try. The happiest business people are those who are able to turn their passions into profit after all, right? Plus, it gives me an excuse to buy more yarn! Hahaha!
Truth be told, I have been enjoying this business so far, ever since I launched it three days (LOL) ago. Of course it helps that in those three days, I have already received a couple of orders. Woohoo! Granted, my first customers are friends, but that’s the way it goes anyway.
My first “official” event sponsorship was for friends, too, when I made a few pairs of snowflake coasters to give to the lovely moms who attended the Holiday Potluck edition of Mothers Who Brunch.
This was by far the biggest project I have made for anyone, and it makes me happy that it was for an event I’ve attended and enjoyed, and for friends whom I love. Plus, it was a great way to get samples of my work out to the right people. Win-win!
I’m not sure how far I will end up going with this new venture. All I know is that I will keep doing it for as long as it make me, and other people, happy. And, of course, for as long as there are people out there who want me to make crocheted stuff for them.

In case you missed it, this blog no longer goes by the name “Mrs C’s Sugarcoated Life.” As of some time last week (OMG momnesia, I can’t even remember when I made the change,) we are now known as “At Home with MrsC.”
Why the change? Well, in case you were wondering (and even if you weren’t haha,) it’s simply because it was time for a change. It’s time to start on a new cycle.
It may be that I’ve been spending so much time at the laundromat that I’m now thinking in cycles, but I really believe that life works that way. Just as our dirty clothes go through wash cycles to become fresh, clean and nice-smelling again, our lives go through periods of change between good, weird, bad, and then better, until we fall into a place that works.
After a while, no matter how smooth-sailing things may be, something inevitable comes up and things get complicated or confusing, or even messy again. When that happens, it’s time to go for a quick clean (aka change,) and the cycle starts up again. Now please tell me that this made sense to you guys, and that it isn’t just my new-found desperate housewives status in life getting the better of me.
So, what changes are happening exactly? As far as the blog is concerned, nothing much, except that I am determined to set aside time to write more often. The last few months have been quiet here, and I feel a little sad about that. Oh that, and the new name. It’s kind of symbolic actually, in the sense that my focus now is really on making this house into a home. I want to be more than just a housewife. I want to be a homemaker.
As for real life, I obviously have to dedicate more time to my homemaking, wifely and mommy duties, basically because no one else can do that but me, and because it’s in line with what I want for myself and my family. This means that I’m putting my WAHM-self on the back burner, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Yes, I am slightly panicking over the fact that we now have bills to pay for real, but I know things will work out.

Ultimately, in order for me to continue to make this place a happy home (and by this place I mean our actual home, and this blog, which is my virtual home,) I need to be happier too. Happiness means being less stressed out, having more energy to do the things that I love, and having more free time, as in physical free time and a mind that is free from worry and distractions, to spend with my loved ones.
If you ask me, less stress > more money.
Between MrC and I, I know that we will find a way to make everything work for us, not just in terms of finances, but also in terms of keeping our little family happy, comfortable, and satisfied. We do make a great tag team partner, something that has been tried, tested and proven again and again over many years. Plus, as my dear friend Tina always says, God will provide. I have faith.
So now I need to ask, how do you guys feel about my new blog name?
Fact: I have this long list of establishments that I want to try outside the Alabang area. Rustic Mornings was one of them.
Fortunately, during one of the weekends that we spent in my SIL’s house over the summer (yes, I know, ang tagal na,) we had the chance to visit the restaurant. I had been seeing a lot of posts about it online, and one of my cousins also couldn’t stop raving about Rustic Mornings. I was really looking forward to breakfast that day.
The restaurant is located in Marikina, and being that I am from the south, I have no idea how to get there. They do have easy to follow directions on their website (HERE!), though, so if you are planning a visit, save the page.
If you were to ask me to describe the place, I’d say it’s shabby chic meets eclectic. There are a lot of stuff on display, from plates and pitchers to old bottles and photographs.
There is a big garden area where you can choose to dine alfresco on good weather days. Since we were there over the summer, we obviously opted to stay in the airconditioned dining room.
The servings at Rustic Mornings are pretty big, and actually good enough to share for those with not-so-large appetites.
After a quick glance at the menu, I settled on a Crispy Waffle and coffee. Little MrC also ordered a waffle, plus a Meat Lovers Omelette, which we ended up sharing . The husbandry chose the Corned Beef breakfast plate. The Crispy Tawilis was highly recommended, but was unfortunately not available when we were there.
As for the in-laws, they ordered Breaded Boneless Bangus, Real Buttermilk Pancakes, and a Country Omelette. For dessert, the kiddo and his Lolo split an order of Frozen Brazo de Mercedes. I, on the other hand, had no room left for dessert!
If we lived closer to Marikina, I would most likely visit Rustic Morning more often. Mga once a week LOL! Everything there is really, really good, and the place is nice. Too bad going there feels like a field trip to me!
