Four Things I Miss From When I Was Growing Up

May 17, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 2 Comments

It might be because I just turned 30, but I’ve been feeling extra sentimental lately. I noticed how much our house has changed over the years, and all of a sudden I got to thinking about the little things that I miss about it from when I was younger. This house was a great home for my siblings and I to grow up in. Oh how I wish I could bring back some of these old stuff so that my son can experience them too.

Family Computer / SNES / Playstation

We love our video games. I think the best part about having gaming consoles at home was having a brother to play with. I seriously play video games like a boy, and I take pride in that. My brother and I were partners in Contra and Donkey Kong, tag team partners in WWF, and enemies in Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart, Tekken and Medal of Honor. We would eagerly wait for the other player to die in Super Mario 1 and 3 and Super Mario World, Adventure Island and Ice Climber.

I tried playing video games recently, but the games now aren’t the same as those we had as kids. Or maybe it’s just the feeling of gaming nostalgia that I long for. We no longer have a gaming console at home, but you can be sure that I’ll set one up when we have our own house. You guys are welcome to challenge me to a game of your choosing. Lol. Crocheted Gifts Are LOVE

April 30, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 1 Comment

My mom-in-law and sis-in-law already got the crocheted stuff I sent them. I’m so happy! See how cute they both look in my labor of love presents.

This blue beanie is a winner. Everyone seems to love it!

She feels like a strawberry in this one. Lol. Might be because I made it during our strawberry picking weekend in Baguio.

My mom-in-law specifically chose this pattern from the internet.

It’s a Phannie Beret. You can find the pattern on Beroco.com.

Yay to giving the gift of crochet!

So now I need ideas about what to make next. Help me out? If you guys could receive a crocheted something from me, what would it be?

On Finding My Purpose and Blogging Inspired

April 27, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 11 Comments

If not for my friends Ditas, Janice and Tina, I might not have been able to attend the Blog Inspired workshop last Saturday. The four of us were talking over Twitter last week, and I think it was Ditas who asked if we were all going to be at the session. Tina was about to give birth at that time, and said she had to give up her slot. Janice was going for sure. I, on the other hand, found out about the free workshop late, and so I wasn’t able to secure a slot for myself. The three ladies convinced me to put my name on the wait list, just in case there are last minute slots that open up. So that night, I think it was a Thursday, I went ahead and signed up, without any expectations.

I got an email on Friday from my friend Martine of daintymom.com, one of the co-hosts of the workshop, saying that I was given a slot, and that I should be at Fully Booked in BGC the following day before 10:30am. It was so serendipitous because just a few minutes before I got the email, I wrote and submitted my entry to her blogaversary contest, a post about why I am inspired to blog. So yes, I believe that it was truly meant to be that I got that slot! And I mean to make the most out of it too.

Here I am with Janice and Ziggy (left side of photo), and Ditas and Henry (photo right).

How Do You De-Stress, WAHMie? I Crochet!

April 17, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 4 Comments

Some people go for a walk to clear their heads when they are stressed out. Others choose to listen to music, meditate, play with their kids, or eat their favorite comfort food. I believe that it is important to have an outlet for stress. Of course, a healthy outlet such as exercise is better for you than maybe going out for a smoke or indulging in sweets. But ultimately, in whatever way you can, you should be able to find a way to let go of whatever stressful things bother you each day.

My outlet is crochet.

Post Pregnancy Weight Loss

April 8, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 2 Comments

After giving it a lot of thought, I have decided that it is time for me to start taking serious steps towards losing my post-baby belly. I can give you three very good reasons why.

  1. I just turned 30, and I feel that it’s a good time to reboot myself, so to speak. Time to live a healthier, more active lifestyle.
  2. I saw the orthopedic doctor yesterday by chance, and he said that the joints in my knees are grinding against each other because of the excess weight. That’s bad news because that means my cartilage is either very thin or no longer there. So while my blood test results all show normal numbers, my body is slowly but surely telling me that it’s time to lose weight.
  3. My son is turning seven in a few days, and as far as post-baby weight loss is concerned, well, there hasn’t really been any. What exactly do I mean by “there hasn’t been any?” Well, just think of it this way, today I weigh the same today as I did on my last day as a pregnant woman.
See? I was about five months along in this photo, and it looks just like me now.

30 Days to 30

January 26, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 2 Comments

I have 30 days left in my 20’s. Eek!

Ok, so it just so happened that what I have planned for today all come together perfectly to kick of my 30 day countdown. During the day, I will be working on my career. I signed up for Dainty Mom‘s WAHMderful Life Workshop (I know you already know, since I keep talking about it), and after the session I hope to be a better WAHM and a better freelance writer. No, wait, I KNOW I’ll be better at it. I’m really excited to finally meet all my online mom friends. So far I’ve only had the pleasure of meeting Mommy Ginger in person, and I can’t wait to see everyone else. Must remember to charge the camera! Meanwhile, check out the video of Martine and Ginger being interviewed on ANC’s Shoptalk about the workshop.
