On Finding My Purpose and Blogging Inspired

April 27, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 11 Comments

If not for my friends Ditas, Janice and Tina, I might not have been able to attend the Blog Inspired workshop last Saturday. The four of us were talking over Twitter last week, and I think it was Ditas who asked if we were all going to be at the session. Tina was about to give birth at that time, and said she had to give up her slot. Janice was going for sure. I, on the other hand, found out about the free workshop late, and so I wasn’t able to secure a slot for myself. The three ladies convinced me to put my name on the wait list, just in case there are last minute slots that open up. So that night, I think it was a Thursday, I went ahead and signed up, without any expectations.

I got an email on Friday from my friend Martine of daintymom.com, one of the co-hosts of the workshop, saying that I was given a slot, and that I should be at Fully Booked in BGC the following day before 10:30am. It was so serendipitous because just a few minutes before I got the email, I wrote and submitted my entry to her blogaversary contest, a post about why I am inspired to blog. So yes, I believe that it was truly meant to be that I got that slot! And I mean to make the most out of it too.

Here I am with Janice and Ziggy (left side of photo), and Ditas and Henry (photo right).

Tristan’s Tron Party

April 24, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 10 Comments

My little guy is a baby no more. Little MrC celebrated his 7th birthday the other week week, and we put together a Tron-themed lazer tag party for his special day.

We chose LazerXtreme in Alabang Town Center as our venue, and in case you guys are planning to have a party there, ask for Princess to handle your inquiry. She is really nice, organized and hands-on. She even gave us a great discount, plus vouchers for free play as a token. You get to use their function room for 2.5 hours if you avail of the party package for at least 10 persons. They have one big room that can accommodate a maximum of 80 persons. This can be divided into two small rooms that comfortably fit 30 and 40 persons, respectively.

My Fabulously Fit Mommy Project

April 22, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 12 Comments

Before I begin, I want to make two things clear: (1) I am not “going on a diet”, and (2) I am not doing this so that I won’t be fat anymore.

Let me explain.

I am not going on a diet. What I intend to do is ease myself into a healthier lifestyle. This involves making better food choices and following the right proportions. It doesn’t mean that I am quitting carbs, because that would just make me miserable. In fact, I’m not quitting anything. I will continue to eat sweets, junk food, and fast food even, but in moderation. That means I can have the occasional bottle of beer or can of soda if I want to. Because really, nothing is more depressing than being on the beach and not being able to open a nice cold bottle of San Mig or Coke. Yes?

MrC agrees! Read about this fun Boracay day here.

I am also not doing this so that I won’t be fat anymore. You see, I like myself just the way I am. If you find that hard to believe then I’m sorry, but you need an attitude adjustment. I am not driven by the prospect of wearing a bikini on the beach (while I drink that ice cold beer, mind you). I tried that, and it didn’t work. Every time I try to lose weight to get thin, it never happens. Because I don’t need to be thin to be happy. I am already happy, and I seriously love myself.

How To Know When It’s Truly Time To Lose Weight

April 21, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 2 Comments

A sweet little 5-year old boy came up to me yesterday as I was talking to his mommy. He looked up at me, put a hand on my tummy, and asked ever-so-innocently, “Do you have a baby?”

I smiled down at him and answered, “No love, this is just food.”

I then pointed at little MrC and said, “There’s my baby. He’s big already, right?”

Yeah, time to lose weight. Tomorrow is day one. For real this time.

Why Do YOU Blog?

April 19, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 3 Comments

There was once a young girl with so many stories to tell, but not enough people to listen to her. On one fateful summer day in 2004, she started her first blog. She blogged religiously for two years, until motherhood, work and the real world took up all of her time.

Years later, she decided to start a new blog, one that would be the launch pad to pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. She was older and wiser then, and instead of the extreme emotional fluctuations and trivial stories that she used to share, she was now writing about being a mom and a wife, her path towards becoming a work-at-home-mom, vacations, staycations and travels, recipes, and day-to-day life in her new world.

Yes, that girl is me. I am a blogger, and I love being one. I will now stop referring to myself in the third person.

The question is, “Why do I blog?” The answer is simple. I blog because it inspires me.

How Do You De-Stress, WAHMie? I Crochet!

April 17, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 4 Comments

Some people go for a walk to clear their heads when they are stressed out. Others choose to listen to music, meditate, play with their kids, or eat their favorite comfort food. I believe that it is important to have an outlet for stress. Of course, a healthy outlet such as exercise is better for you than maybe going out for a smoke or indulging in sweets. But ultimately, in whatever way you can, you should be able to find a way to let go of whatever stressful things bother you each day.

My outlet is crochet.
