5 Ways to Update Your Bathroom

March 22, 2018 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Tired of seeing the same bathroom design you’ve had for years? Do you want something different but don’t have the time nor the budget for a complete renovation? Maybe what you need is a bath update. You can actually change the look of your bathroom entirely without spending much. In this article, we’ll list five ways you can do this without breaking the bank.

  1. Paint your tiles.

Did you know that there’s a type of paint that’s made explicitly for wall tiles? This can be a great alternative to tiling your bathroom which will undoubtedly cost you a pretty penny. There are two kinds of paint you can choose from:

Epoxy Paint – Epoxy paint is durable and hard-wearing. You would need to apply about two coats of epoxy paint on your tiles to get a good finish. The disadvantage of epoxy paint is that it’s somewhat tricky for a non-skilled person to paint on. It also has a limited color selection available.

Latex Paint – Latex is easier to apply than epoxy paint although not as durable as the latter. You’d need a bonding primer first before applying the latex wall paint. Whichever kind of paint you use, remember to prepare the tiles completely for painting by cleaning, sanding, and wiping them off.

  1. Update your lighting fixtures.

The lighting fixtures in a room can completely change its whole look and feel. You can make the ceiling the primary focus of your room by installing an elegant hanging fixture or, you can layer different kinds of light units together. Make sure to avoid cold lighting and yellow bulbs because natural and simulated natural light would look best in any room.

  1. Install a big mirror.

One way to give your bathroom an extravagant feel without the corresponding price tag is to install a large mirror inside. A huge mirror can also make a small room look like it has far more space than it has. Add some backlights to your mirror for a touch of glamour or add a beautiful frame around it for a chic feel. Check out Bathroom City for a wide selection of mirrors to reflect your style.

  1. Organize your things.

Keep your bathroom looking neat and organized by removing all clutter. Since wood has that “softening” effect that adds warmth to an otherwise cold-feeling room, try organizing all your stuff into pretty storage boxes such as painted and repurposed wooden crates. You can also add timber shelving to make use of your room’s vertical space.

  1. Prettify your windows.

If you have large windows, make the most out of them by frosting the glass panels to allow lots of natural light in while also maintaining your privacy. You can also install plantation-style shutters for an elegant, old-world feel or, add bright fabric blinds for a fresh and vibrant look.

These are just five examples on how you can update your bathroom, but there are actually countless ways you can do it, from changing the towels to adding a freestanding bath to

repurposing a vanity table as a sink cabinet. The key to updating is to start simple then add more changes as you see fit and as you grow more confident in your styling skill.

5 modern furnishings to consider adding to your home

February 18, 2018 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

We consider our home as our safe haven. So when it comes to designing the interior of our personal space, we like to keep it as personal as possible by staying true to our lifestyle and roots. However, that does not mean that we have to stay with the traditional look of your house. By combining traditional and modern furnishings, you could always give your home its much needed modern flair.

When it comes to modern décor, it is all about simplicity. It does not mean you have to stay with plain and boring colors and less furniture. It’s all about utilizing what you can add to your home and make it functional. It means that you don’t have to restrict yourself from going crazy with clean lines and a neutral color palette so long as you give importance to the functionality of your home.

Here are five modern furnishings to consider adding to your home.

  1. Bright colored curtains.

One of the simplest ways to add a modern vibe to your home is by changing your curtain colors to bright ones. Bright colors such as mint green or yellow can create a youthful and vibrant look in any room. It gives a bold and edgy look to your home and totally changes the atmosphere of your personal space. It also brightens up the entire room effortlessly.

  1. Wall system

We have come to an age where electronic equipment is already a norm in every household. Installing a wall system in your living room can ultimately create a modern look to your house. Not only does it make the entertainment room attractive, it also gives the best functionality since you can practically have a designed storage space for your electronic equipment, magazines, and books. The best thing about adding wall system today is that you can have different configurations available and have it customized to your preferences.

  1. Contemporary artwork

Adding artwork as an extra furnishing can definitely add more color and spirit to your home. Look for contemporary art paintings or figurines that can complement with your existing furnishings and you can definitely have a great combination of modern design inside your home.

  1. Modern lighting fixtures

Adding lighting fixtures can ultimately change the aura of any room. Whether it’s warm or cold lighting, it can change a room’s look. Consider adding modern-designed lighting fixtures in your personal space. It adds interest to your wall and minimizes the dark feel of a space. This is something that every house should have, and you should consider the type of lighting you will add to your home.

  1. Space-saving furniture

Nowadays, due to the influx of people living in the urban areas, the importance of maximizing one’s space has become important. Space-saving furniture is a gift of today’s modern age and adding it to your home would greatly benefit you. You’ll find stair-drawers, extendable tables, foldable chairs, and even a fold out bed. If you have a limited space in your home, consider adding space-saving furniture.

Mommy Bloggers and Nutri10Plus Vitamins Send Love To Kids In Marawi

December 22, 2017 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Moms have this innate need to provide quality nutrition for their children, agree? It’s just one of those instincts that kicks in along with our mysterious and amazing maternal instinct. At least that’s how it happened with me.

In our home, as in most households, providing adequate nutrition means choosing healthy, balanced meals over junky snacks and processed foods. It also means being well-stocked with vitamins and supplements that are able to sustain and nourish our growing family needs. In Little MrC’s stash we made sure to include Nutri10Plus.

Nutri10Plus Syrup, a multivitamins packed with Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF), Taurine, Lysine, Zinc and Vitamins C, A, D3 B1 and more, has been assisting mothers all around the Philippines in developing children with strong bodies, active brains and healthy appetite.

In the effort to help our co-mommies and their children in war-stricken Marawi, 100 Mommy bloggers from the  Mommy Bloggers Philippines community collaborated to bring boxes of Nutri10Plus Syrup and DayCee Vitamin C Syrup, plus toys to 100 kids in the area.

This was done in partnership with SinagTala, a non-profit organization headed by Ms. Kaye Koo. SinagTala has helped villages in Marawi since the conflict began, sheltering hundreds of children inside their Playroom, which served as a mini-school and play area.

Through the Nutri10Plus Syrup, DAYZINC vitamins, and the toys that were sent over, we hope to uplift these children’s spirits and help restore their health. This is especially important now, as they start to pick up the pieces of their lives as families.

The MBP moms all wish to thank WERT for this campaign, Kaye Koo of SinagTala and all the staff who have helped in sending the vitamins to Marawi.

To learn more about the benefits of Nutri10Plus Syrup, check through their Facebook page #/Nutri10Plus/

I am proud to be one of the moms who participated in this campaign. It feels great to have been able to use this blog to help bring hundreds of pouches of Nutri10Plus Vitamins to the children in Marawi, together with all of these wonderful mommy bloggers:

You Out Of Nowhere

November 17, 2017 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Despite having done many of them when I was a student, I suck at writing book reviews. I think it’s because I’m afraid of posting spoilers, not just of the story but also of characters, conversations, and situations.

Here’s where I’m coming from. I rarely read reviews. As a reader, I want to be able to judge for myself whether I love or hate a character. I enjoy reading stories I hardly know anything about because I like being pleasantly surprised over how I relate to the people and places in the story. Banter between characters is so important to me, and sometimes reading snippets spoils things for me.

I know, I know, and dami kong arte.

Well, despite everything I’ve just said, here I am writing a book review. I really am the biggest walking contradiction. But wait, there is a reason why I signed up to write this review. (Yes, guys, I signed up to do it even though I know I am terrible at it!)

If we’re social media friends, you’ll see that I like all things local. Whenever I can, I buy Pinoy-made. Until very recently, though, I haven’t really explored going local as far as my reading list goes.

Confession: Most of the Pinoy-authored books I’ve read, I’ve done so because I had to, for school. I guess it’s mostly because I was never properly exposed to local authors and the wonderful works they’ve come out with. Apparently, I’ve been missing out.

I truly believe that it’s never too late to start, though, so here I am, starting. Just this year, I’ve already been able to read five books by Filipino authors. Woohoo! The most recent one happens to be the subject of this (trying-hard) book review. It’s called You Out of Nowhere, and it was written by Jay E. Tria.

So, did I enjoy You Out Of Nowhere? YES!

From the get go, I knew this would be one of those books that I wouldn’t be able to put down.

I loved learning about Kris and Ringo, the main characters, while they learned about each other. I especially loved how animated their conversations were. At times, it felt like I was third-wheeling in their little love affair, and I was perfectly okay with that.

The intense chemistry that loomed so clearly between the two swept me away, right from the start. It was all so nicely written that I could actually feel tension in my chest as I read, page after page.

Do I think you should pick up a copy of this book? YES.

First of all, do it to support a local author. But also read it because it’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s kilig. And it’s also hot. It feels like what romance and falling in love really feels like. At least for me. Lol!

The best part is, this book is only one of four books from #romanceclassFLAIR. Just so you know, FLAIR (or #romanceclassFLAIR) is a new, ongoing project that will bring steamy contemporary romance (in English) by Filipino authors to readers. Four new titles from four different #romanceclass authors are to be released, and these books will be unapologetically sexy.

Flair is not a publisher, but there is a single Flair team that is working with the authors on all the books. The team is composed of #romanceclass community authors, readers, editors, and designers. You may follow Romanceclass Books on Facebook, romanceclassbooks on Instagram, and #romanceclass on Twitter to get updates!

4 Ways To Renovate Your Bathroom With A Small Budget

October 24, 2017 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Are you planning to do some renovations to your bathroom? You’ve come up with a design to update your bathroom, only to be surprised that you will have to spend a lot of money to get the look that you want.

You need to expect that any renovation will cost money, even in small areas of the house such as a bathroom. But if you are not ready to shell out a lot of money, there are still things you can do to give your bathroom a new look. All you need is a little cash and a lot of creativity and effort. One of the things to keep within the budget is to do the renovation yourself so that you will not have to hire other people to do the work for you.

Check out some of the things you can do below. You or another family member can do them yourself so you will surely be saving a lot of money in the renovation process.

1. Frame your mirror – no bathroom is complete without a mirror. They are not only functional, as most would do their grooming and makeup in front of it, but it also opens up space and makes the small bathroom look larger than it really is. A big mirror can cost a lot of money, so unless yours is broken, consider instead putting a new frame on it instead of purchasing a new one. The style of the frame is up to you, you can go for a theme such as vintage or modern if you want and just add a few additional decorations throughout the bathroom to complete the look.

2. Repaint the walls – you might have been thinking of changing the tiles in your bathroom, but that would cost a pretty penny. Why not paint the walls instead? It would cost significantly less than a tile job but it can completely transform a small space. It would require a lot of concentration as you would have to maneuver yourself while you paint around the bathroom. Take note also that there is a risk of molds developing in the bathroom so invest in the high-quality paint.

3. Refinish the bathtub and sink – if you find your bathtub or sink looking worse for wear, do not think immediately about replacing it. A cheaper alternative would be to reglaze them instead. You can call professionals to do this for you as it might be too complicated to do by yourself. It will still be a lot cheaper than having to hire people to dig out your old tub, buying a new one and hiring a contractor to place if in your bathroom.

4. Update your fixtures – don’t forget the little details when doing your budget renovation. Changing the taps, towel racks and drawer pulls can create a big change in the look of your bathroom. And you don’t have to spend a lot of money to do that. There are cheap taps, lighting fixtures and the like readily available in stores and online. Just go through the variety of choices and choose the one that will be perfect for the design you have in mind.

A Year With Belo Baby

March 17, 2017 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 16 Comments

Fact: Half of the things I use on myself are actually baby products.

A year ago, I got to know the Belo Baby brand, and ever since then their products have been a staple on my room and bathroom shelves. I love them so much that I’ve shared them with others – My son, my mom, even an aunt in the US. I’ve also given the gift of Belo Baby a few times to my new goddaughter, Luna. It’s so nice having an actual baby to share baby products with! My kiddo kasi has recently moved up to the realm of big boy products already.

There are two things I absolutely love about the Belo Baby line – Everything smells so good, and the products are 100% all-natural, and contain zero harmful ingredients. Not necessarily in that order.

mrspcuyugan Belo Baby
Have you tried these yet? If not, you SHOULD!

The soap is super mild, and doesn’t at all leave skin feeling dry or itchy. The hair and body wash is really easy to rinse off, and actually works on both hair and body. I know, I tested it myself. Lol. We all agree at home that this is the best, best, best among the products in the Belo Baby bath line.

Bonus: Both the soap, and the hair and body wash produce a very light lather, which, I’ve noticed, is common in products that are made without harmful chemicals.

I use the lotion, too. Now believe me when I say I hate using lotion. I hate the sticky feeling it usually leaves on the skin. There’s none of that with Belo Baby lotion. Buti nalang because, as a fully-functioning housewife with chores like laundry and dish washing, I now need to use lotion on a regular basis.

Their tagline says it all: “Crafted with care for the most delicate skin, for the most meticulous moms.”

I’m so sold on how good these baby bath products are. Not only are they gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, they’re also all-natural and safe to use at any age. Best of all, they smell awesome, exactly how I think a clean baby ought to smell.

I said earlier that I’ve shared these bath goodies with my two-month old niece, and now I can’t wait to see and sniff her after she’s freshly washed with Belo Baby.

So obviously I like to give the gift of Belo Baby. And because they are celebrating their first birthday this month, Belo Baby is gifting three of my readers (yes, you guys!) with a nice little baby bath care package . I’m so excited for you to try their soap, hair and body wash, and lotion on your little ones!

If you were to ask me what I want a (“a” not “my” kasi wala na akong baby 😂) freshly bathed baby to smell like, I’d tell you to smell these #BeloBaby products. I’ve shared the gift of Belo Baby with several friends and family members over the past year, and everyone is as happy as I am with how nice and bango, and all-natural they all are. So glad we discovered these gems! 💜 🎈Happy 1st birthday @Belobabylove!🎈 #belobabyturnsone
