28 Grateful Days: Feeling the Birthday Vibe

February 4, 2014 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan 19 Comments

In 21 days, I will stop being 30 and officially turn into a 30-something year old.

Birthdays are a huge deal in our family, and to be honest, this year’s birth month has not failed me yet as far as awesomeness goes. The first of the month found us in the gorgeous Las Casas in Bataan, and day two was family-fun-filled too. Yesterday, I received a box of happiness from Boracay, courtesy of my brother’s girlfriend – Six calamansi muffins from Real Coffee, something I’d been craving for, for a while now. Today, one of my favorite restaurants, Yabu, sent me an early present – a gift certificate for a free katsu set that I can claim any time within February. Amazeballs. Happy Birthday, Mother Dear!

It’s my mom’s birthday today!

Baby Mom, some time in the 60's

To celebrate, I’d like to share this post I wrote last year for World Moms Blog, which talked about our household with two mothers. Here’s a quote from that post:

I can’t say enough how extremely blessed I am to have a mother who is young enough, strong enough and more than willing to take care of my kid in my absence. I never have to worry about him not being okay because he is in the hands of the same woman who raised me.

Halloween 1983. I'm the bunny, mom's preggers with my brother, and I think that's my step cousin with us.

To mommy, happy birthday and thank you for everything. I literally would not be here without you. I love you, and you know it!

I just really wanted to use this photo. Lol. Super Angels circa 1980.

Five Things I Love About Being Married to MrC

May 16, 2013 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Forgive the cheese. It’s my husbandry’s birthday today, and I just thought I’d post the list of things that I appreciate most about having him as a husband. In case you didn’t know, he and I have been together since high school. Yup, that long. This is the 14th year that we are celebrating his together, and to be perfectly honest, I’ve run out of gift ideas hahaha. This post is a sort-of gift to MrC. Appreciation in the form of words.

So here are the five things I love about being married to MrC.

1. He makes me coffee every morning.

I am well aware that morning coffee is usually the wife’s responsibility, but since MrC is very particular about his coffee, he usually takes care of preparing our morning pot every day. That’s an absolutely wonderful thing for me since I have a hard time functioning early in the day. He knows exactly how I like my coffee prepared, and on mornings when we are out of beans at home, he knows exactly what to get for me from the nearest coffee shop. Sometimes he even comes home with pastries! These are simple joys that help start my day right, and I absolutely love him for it.

Life begins after coffee!

Manika’s 2nd: Another McDonald’s Party

December 22, 2012 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, our family got together to celebrate the second birthday of our youngest member, Manika. She is the daughter of one of my cousins, and is, so far, one of only two girls from her generation.Yep, we seem to have made a lot of boys over the past few years.

This party was held at McDonald’s in Venice Piazza. While I was really happy about the fact that this branch and its mascots were much, much cleaner than McDonald’s Alabang, it didn’t seem like a good place for a kiddie party because of its layout and furnishings. It got pretty crowded and it was tough moving around because of the bulky seats and the odd shape of the whole restaurant. Just sharing my observations. Happy Birthday Daddy

November 19, 2011 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

If there’s one valuable life lesson I learned from my dad that I don’t think I will ever forget, it’s that your parents will take care of you while you grow up, and in turn you must care for your parents until they grow old.

Forever Daddy’s Firstborn Girl
At my wedding, 09.10.11

Happy 55th birthday to the best Daddy in the world. You always make sure that we have everything we need, and in return you only ask for all the love in the world. Don’t worry, you will never run out. Love you forever Dada!
