Yesterday someone asked me if I read I lot. I said that, yes, I try to read as much as I can. She replied, “I can tell.”
That, my friends, is my idea of an amazing compliment.
I must admit, though, that lately I haven’t been reading as often as I know I should be. I blame it on my newly developed habit of TV show binge-watching. Truth is, becomes extra challenging for me to keep up with my writing when I slow down on reading, and of course this is never a good thing when you write for a living.
A few nights ago, I picked up where I left off on the last Secret Book Club BOM I started, Tender at the Bone. This was last September’s book assignment. I actually have a lot of catching up to do, because I only got to read one book from last year’s BOM list. I also skipped a few of the recommended books from the year before. That’s okay, though. I’m happy to be entering into my birth month with a list of books waiting to be read.
In the interest of keeping track of my reading progress, I thought I’d share our reading lists from the past two years here. I love how the different members of our little reading community recommend different kinds of books. It’s always fun finding new authors and series to fall in love with.

Due to internet, it’s rare to see someone curled up with a good book except if it’s part of the book to movie hard bounds. Good job on catching up on the reads!

I love to read too. But with two kids and writing jobs, it seems challenging to find time to pick up a book and get lost in their words. I’ll try to find time to finish my reading list too π
Louisa says

I used to read books when I was still in school, actually not the school books but novels hehehe. I stopped when I started working and now that I have a baby. Planning to read books again now that I’m blogging. I need to broaden my grammar skills, nakakahiya nga minsan mali mali ako ng verb tenses sa blog hehehe. Luckily hubby now proofread my post before I publish it.

I super agree, reading helps make us better writers. And yay for husbands who proofread our work! Mine does, too. It’s not unusual for me to receive a text from him saying that he spotted an error in one of my posts.
Lady Anne Louise Barrun says
I love reading too. I just finished a book yesterday. However, with our busy sched we can’t find time to read our books.
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
I’ve come to realize that I need to read to be effective as a writer, so I really make time for it. Kahit a little a day lang – before bed, in the banyo, while waiting in the car. It helps! π
Kharla Canta says
great reading list! I have mine too!
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
What are you reading now? π
Nini Perez says
Yay! A mummy who reads. I love reading too. I had not quite grown accustomed to e-books and audiobooks. There’s a certain addictive smell from paper. π I’m almost done with Milk, Money and Madness. Next on my list is The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I’m doin breastfeeding titles as I’m studying for certification as a lactation consultant. But I used to read a lot fiction.
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
I’m a fiction reader naman. I don’t do so well with nonfiction, unless it’s a memoir. It took me a while also to get used to ebooks, but now that I’ve gone full-Kindle, I’m hooked! I love that, this way, I can have as many books as I want in my bag all at the same time hehe.
RJ Dancel says
I need to start reading. I hoarded a lot of books last year, and only read one so far. π Thanks for sharing!

Completely stopped reading books when my kobo retired. Though I have a number of paperbacks and hard bounds waiting, I just let them be there. Sayang, my boys all love reading, perhaps because they saw their mom reading a lot. I should really bring back my interest on books.
ceemee says
I read whatever I could get my hands on – in BookLook and the never ending free books from BookBub, all in ebooks. I just have a target number of books in my Goodreads account, this year it’s 25. π
