December 2015: Bliss Buzz – I’m Engaged, Now What?

Hey everybody it’s the December 2015 edition of Bliss Buzz. This is my monthly e-video where I talk about what’s going on with me, and I give tips to those people who are planning their weddings.

So what’s going on with me? I’m back in the Windy City, but I just returned today from Miami. It wasn’t as warm as I wanted it to be, but it’s that time of the year where you’re visiting family and friends, and I had a chance to visit one of my dear friends who’s name is Dee—she used to live here in Chicago. So I had a chance to spend some time and I’m actually leaving tomorrow to go to North Carolina to visit my mom for the Christmas holidays. So it’s just a busy personal travel season for everybody. So safe travels everybody! And as you can see, it’s definitely cold and windy in the Windy City, so I’m going to knock these ten tips out really quickly.

I’m going to talk about the first ten things to do when you get engaged.

  • 1. Get Your Ring Sized and Insured

  • 2. Set a Date
But make sure you have a backup date, in case the date you want is not available. Alright?

  • 3. Continue to Date Each Other
So you want to set up some dates to spend time with each other talking about your wedding plans, what you want for your wedding, and things of that nature. Make sure you do it somewhere in public, because sometimes these conversations can get kind of heated, so that might make you not have many heated conversations if you’re in a public place.

  • 4. Set a Budget

  • 5. Organize Your Guest List
Get about 90% of your guest list together.

  • 6. Hire a Planner
And why I say not hire a planner first, is because if you come to me, the first thing I’m going to ask you is what is your budget, and how many people do you have. So go ahead and get that together, and hire a full-service planner.

  • 7. Choose a Theme for Your Wedding
And if I was your planner I would help you come up with that, because that is popular now. And that sets the tone for where you choose your venue, which is my next tip.

  • 8. Select a Venue for Your Wedding

  • 9. Select Photography and Videography

  • 10. Choose your Gown
A lot of you are going to go out, very first thing, and choose your gown. But wait until you have a date, theme, a venue, and all that kind of stuff.

Alright, so those are my ten tips for the month and I’ll see you guys in the New Year. Bye!
