My First Flat

December 18, 2011 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Tire, i mean.

Not my car, but my boss’.

I ran into my boss’ husband and a mall security guard trying to change a flat tire on their car when I was headed home from work the other night. Mr Boss asked if I had a jack in my car, and I smiled and said I wasn’t sure. See, I’m the type of person who would call for help in case of a flat tire. So I asked the guard if he would like to go take a look in the trunk, and maybe he’d find what they needed. Unfortunately, the guard didn’t seem to know where to begin looking for a jack any more than I did. Luckily, one of our suppliers was in the area, and he had a jack in his car. I said my goodbye’s, wished them good luck, and headed home.

I was so bothered about the fact that I wouldn’t have the faintest idea what to do in case of a tire emergency, so as soon as I got home, I asked Mr C if we had a jack in the car. He said yes, we have one, and I told him the story of what happened earlier and how I didn’t know where the tools were. He told me that everything was hidden under the spare tire, inside the trunk, underneath the carpet. And apparently we do have a tool box, a jack and an early warning device in the car. That’s strangely comforting.

At least I now know that if I’m ever faced with a flat, I can look for the most tall, dark and handsome guy within a 10-meter radius, and confidently say, “The tools are in the trunk”. Toink!

Gift To Self

Because I’ve been working so hard (a week with no blog updates should be proof of that)…

A very merry Christmas, and advanced happy birthday to me!

And I promise, no more impulse purchases next year. Promise.

I Am A Working Mom

December 10, 2011 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

I just finished back to back 12-hour shifts at work, and am running on 4 hours of sleep. I’m quickly learning just how busy the holidays can be when you work in a mall. Fortunately, I’m realizing as well that it is equally exciting as it is hectic. Despite my busy Saturday, I still managed to put in a good amount of quality time with the kiddo. We had dinner, talked and snuggled, I cut his fingernails and toenails, we prepared for bed, and I successfully got him to sleep by 9PM. I’m now hoping I finish his Filipino final exam reviewer in an hour so I can get some sleep. Tomorrow is bound to be another eventful day at work.

Yes, I am a working mom. It’s tough, but I love it.

A Long December

December 7, 2011 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

December, week one.

We’re only the first week of December and already my planner is telling me that it’s gonna be a long month. I’m so excited for the holidays! There’s lots to look forward to this season at Festival Supermall. And yes, this is a shameless plug. We begin celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmusts this weekend. We’ve got a giant snow globe photo op, a princess salon, The Little Dummer Boy musical stage play, and a special Martin Nievera Show. Westgate Center will be exciting this weekend too, with games for kids, a magic show and crafting activities.

Come spend the holidays with me at the mall!

Dreaming of A Summer Vacation

December 2, 2011 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Over the past few nights, I’ve been tirelessly browsing the internet in search for a good deal on a nice place where the boys and I can go for a vacation this summer. It will be the kiddo’s first summer break now that he’s in big school, and this gives us the perfect excuse to go on our first big vacation as a family. Personally, I’m itching to go on a nice relaxing 3-day, 2-night trip anywhere. I’d like to think that Mr C, the kiddo and I all deserve it for working so hard this past year.

So far, I’m dreaming about a stay at Discovery Shores or Two Seasons in Boracay, a visit to Bellarocca, a trip to Panglao, or a nice weekend in Cebu. I need to make sure that we find a place that’s kid-friendly, and won’t completely wipe out our savings. The food MUST be good, and there has to be a lot of nice activities that we can do together. And yes, I’ve got my sights set on going to the beach. My pale skin is screaming for some sun.

Suggestions are welcome for a good place to stay, and nice things to do at any of these places. Or maybe there’s a nice destination that I’ve not thought of that fulfills my requirements? Do share. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions. Event more excited still about the prospect of finally, FINALLY going on vacation!

Tomorrow is December 1st

November 30, 2011 by MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan Leave a Comment

Tomorrow is December 1st, which means I will be saying goodbye to my beat-up brown Starbucks 2011 planner and moving on to my new one! Just like in previous years, I managed to complete my promo card in roughly two weeks, so I get to use the new planner even before the year ends. Yay!

I hope I actually get to use the coupons that come with the 2012 planner, coz in the past years I just forgot about them.

My old reliable 2011 brown planner will now join the rest of my planners from the past on the book shelf.
