Another trip around the sun. And now I’m 34.
Hey guys, it’s been a while since I last posted. There is no real reason for my absence, just that I didn’t feel like writing at all these past few months. But, as always, the hiatus has proven to be good for me. Here I am, back again, with a million and one stories swimming in my head, just waiting to be shared.
I figured this would be the perfect day to start posting again, after all it is my day.
I guess the best place to start would be to bring you all up to speed on where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing since my last entry in December.
Basically, I’ve been at home. The whole of 2016 I felt really compelled to work on making our house a real home, from establishing routines to making sure that everything we have in it are things that we use or really, really love. I’ve continued to feel this way well into the new year, and so that’s what I’ve been up to in these first few weeks of 2017, too.
Last year ended just the way I like it, surrounded by family and friends who truly matter. My MIL came home for the holidays last December, and it was the first time in 8 years that we got to spend Christmas with her. We also welcomed Little MrC’s first, first cousin on the Cuyugan side, baby Luna. And, of course, my loyal band of girlfriends were part of my holiday fun too, just has they’ve been for the last 20 years.
So far in 2017, we’ve had a wedding (which, sadly, the boys and I missed) and a baptism, welcomed home several balikbayans, and celebrated a few birthdays and ordinary days with countless food-filled family gatherings.
The kiddo will soon say goodbye to the fifth grade, and has a newfound obsession with growing his hair. I have come to terms that I will have a teenager soon. One who asks that I not write about him so much, and that I stop posting photos of him with funny Snapchat filters.
As a family, we’ve started cleaning out my Loli’s closets, which is a several-years-overdue project for the family. MrC and I have also been carefully removing things we no longer need from our house, and happily bringing in new things thanks to the generosity of our loved ones.
I’ve been cooking a lot for my family, and the feedback has been amazing. I baked my first loaf of gluten-free bread, and learned how to make champorado from scratch. I’ve managed to overhaul our fridge and pantry quite a bit to make room for my kiddo’s gluten-free needs, and it’s been a good change for all of us over here.
I’m lucky to have a husband who supports my quirks and goes with the endless changes I try to make at home. Lately I’ve been obsessing over my kitchen, from wanting to lessen our use of plastic to trying to go paperless as much as we can. I have this newfound love for cloth napkins, and I’m happy to say that my collection is growing thanks to our Loli closet cleanup.
Life over here has been hectic but good. I’m happy to report that I didn’t go through my usual birthday blues this year, likely because I am exactly where I want to be in life right now. I’m loving every moment, from the quiet ones to the very loud ones. If only I could get myself motivated enough to write about them all. Right?
Hopefully, this is the start of that. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
So make me kwento, what’s been up with you guys so far this year? π

Belated Happy Birthday. π
Btw, was that a slice of Estrel’s on your plate? π
I guess each of us has this age of “adulting” such as being concerned about plastics and eating healthily. We’ve also been trying to cut down on plastic usage at home as well as trying to be paperless. We’ve also been recycling and reusing stuff a lot as well as trying to lessen our carbon footprints. Hurray!

Belated happy birthday to you, sis! Decluttering our home is one thing I also needed to do but will only get the chance to accomplish when my son’s school ends this March. I know it feels great to get rid of things you don’t need in your home and in your life; freedom, right?
Janice says
Belated happy birthday, Patty! Like you, I also didn’t experience any birthday blues this year. In fact, my birthday two weeks ago was the happiest one I’ve had in the last few years although nothing super spectacular happened. π It was just full of family and love. π Hope the rest of the year will be awesome for you too.

Happy birthday to you and welcome back to blogging! Like you, I’ve been on a hiatus as well for 2016. Getting back to the usual blogging groove is proving to be easy especially when I am inspired to write. I’m looking forward to more posts from you! π

well…well…well….welcome back to the blogsphere! been a while and I’ve been a reader ha! So I’ve been missing your posts. Only been following your IG and FB posts and somehow got myself updated with your kitchen victories such as your gluten-free bread and all.
Your little boy is growing up, haha! He now has standards on the photos you can post. My 11 year old has also been telling me on what I can no longer do to him in public — like smother him with kisses and baby talking him hahaha.
Belated Happy Birthday, Patricia. Glad to know you’re where you want to be at this point in your life :).
Rowena Wendy Lei says
Happy Birthday! Wishing you more blessings and birthdays to come.

Happy birthday! Yes, since bday only comes once in a year (unless we wanted to celebrate it 2x a year and to get old faster LOL) we are entitled to do anything we want for that special day.

Belated happy birthday. I always smile everytime I read or hear that the husband’s wife has a nice relationship with her in law. It makes life easier. I am also intrigued with the soap you used to make those napkins real clean. Oxyclean? I can be real oc when it comes to laundry. Ehehe. Anyway, I am busy – playing with my son and cooking for the boys. Good.thing I am.able.to squeeze in some time blogging.

Happy Happy Birthday Patty! Wishing you more of what you are loving right now and more of what makes you happy. I’ve been in quite a slump too the first half of the year but I’ve found some motivation the last week of February.

Belated happy birthday! π It’s so great that you were able to end the year with family and friends. Oh my on your boy growing up already and not wanting to be the subject of your posts. I wonder how I’ll take it when the time comes. Hehe

Belated happy birthday! That’s the kind of life I want-cook and bake for my family, being a busy bee in making our tiny home organized and clean. I’m a working mom and really feel like the hours are short and not enough when you want to do chores at home because I also need to rest. One day, I know I’ll be a WAHM, hehe. Good to know yourew writing again π
Mommy Levy says
We’re not yet done with our kitchen renovation and I hope we could clean our bodega soon. I know we have a lot of stuff to give/throw away. My son will be turning 10 this year huhu and I know he’ll ask for his own room soon.

Ang bilis ng panahon no??? Nako brace yourself for the tween years. They get very weird at this stage hahaha 😂
Nini Perez says
Belated happy birthday! π
I panicked over the soon-to-be teenager who wants less of him as a subject in posts. Oh my gosh. Hahaha! I have a little boy, and I sure am glad that I don’t have to come to terms with him growing up (hopefully, more than a decade).
Those are lovely cloth napkins, by the way!
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
Thanks, yes, they are beautiful napkins! And OMG never in my wildest dreams did I imagine my son would ask me to stop writing about him. But that’s what I gotta deal with, and I really want to be able respect his privacy. So there.
Madz | Mommy N' More says

NIce idea yung lumang cloth napkins. I saw your Ig post, ang galing napaputi talaga, parang bago na! π Looking forward for more of your kwento! π
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
Yes, sobrang galing nung Oxiclean on the napkins. Though now I’m struggling with one table runner na ayaw talaga pumuti. Konti nalang I’ll try bleaching it na. Hehe. Frustrating!
Ceemee says
I am waiting for the time we will have our own home. I think I have too much clutter that I want a reset. Haha!
I also changed the look of my blog. Still working on it, though.
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
I saw bits of your blog redesign on Facebook! Ang ganda. π
Michi says
Happy birthday! There is nothing wrong with your blog hiatus because you’re busy with family and home. They are more important than spending your time with your blog. I do that too, from time to time. π
MrsC | Patricia Cuyugan says
I agree, sometimes we really need to prioritize when it comes to how we spend our time. if only we had unlimited time each day to do everything, no?
Badet Siazon says
Happy 34th! I follow your cooking adventures on IG. I can see your having a grand time at home Mrs. C. Ang saya pag nakakakita ng treasures inside our lola’s baul. This year, it’s my turn to make our new house a decent place to live in. Wish me luck π
