How long have you been doing what you do and how did you become a wedding planner?
The concept of Bliss by Sam (BBS) was in the works during my college years as I pursued a nursing degree at East Carolina University – I just didn’t know it. I was still finding me and what was important to me. I knew that I liked being involved in planning events and did so for student organizations that I was involved in. After becoming engaged and planning my own wedding, one thing became abundantly clear – I really enjoy planning events, ESPECIALLY weddings!
As an experienced pediatric nurse, I’ve mastered innovative problem-solving techniques with a commitment to caring (Seriously…. kids start wising up when you keep telling them Benadryl is red Kool-Aid with a twang or a shot is magic juice that will give you super powers!). I developed my no-nonsense business approach as I achieved my Masters in Business Administration. These talents, combined with my sincere love for planning weddings and events, gave rise to Bliss by Sam in 2005.
In working with many couples and their families, it became obvious that there is a great need for a full service wedding planner. The planning of your wedding will be an emotional roller-coaster for you, your fiancé and your family. I realized that I am great at ‘stabilizing’ a crisis and eliminating many of the stresses that deflect from the magic of a dream wedding day.
What makes wedding and event planning worthwhile for BBS is the care taken in customizing the wedding theme based on your unique personalities, ensuring that they show through in every element of your ceremony and reception. I especially enjoy the organization and precision aspect of wedding and event planning. As a lover of most music genres, I envision myself as the conductor of one of the most important days in your life. My mission is to ensure that the melodies and notes of your day come together for one beautiful musical masterpiece!
We love your wedding planning services and portfolio. Everything sounds great… So, can you tell me what really sets you apart from all the other wedding planners out there?
I’ve coined the term “The Bliss by Sam Way” which is defined as my team of professional wedding planners’ commitment to being:

- Quick problem solvers
I’ve also spent COUNTLESS hours creating a systematic and streamlined process by which we work with each client. This way, no matter which planner you work with, your experience will be per “The BBS Way”.
Also, your client information is maintained on paper and electronically (restricted access may be granted in the event that strict confidentiality is required). In the event of an emergency, we can easily serve as each other’s backups because all of your planning and logistical information is housed in a web-based system which allows us access to it from anywhere! There are no worries about having to run to the office to find your client files.
Finally, to ensure quality of service and proper supervision of my team, I limit myself to 10-12 full service weddings per year. This ensures that I am able to properly follow-up with all BBS clients to ensure their planning process is per “The BBS Way”.
Who do you work best with?
If you have a clear sense of self and a sense of humor, you will benefit best from working with me and my staff. If you have an idea of what you want, but no idea how to make it happen, that is okay. If you have absolutely no ideas about what you want, that’s OK too. You are the reason we are here.

Will I lose control of my own wedding if you are planning it for me?
No, of course not; we are an extension of your wishes and expectations for your day. You will be granted access to a web-based collaboration and communication tool so we can all stay on the same page and allow you to maintain control of your wedding.
Will you work the wedding with event professionals I’ve already found or people I really want to work with?
Yes. We are happy to collaborate with your wedding and event professionals to make sure your wishes are taken into consideration with every detail.
Do you take more than one wedding per day?
No. Each consultant only takes one event per day.
Do you have liability insurance?
This all sounds so wonderful. But, it also seems expensive. Are we going to be able to afford all this?
During our training, we learned that it takes the average bride over 200 hours to plan her wedding. That’s FIVE 40-hour work weeks. Can you imagine that? The schedule of most busy professionals will not allow for that, can yours? Many of our past clients have thanked us for saving them time, energy and money!
Besides, can you put a price on peace of mind? There have been several people who opted to plan their own weddings because of ‘cost’….stating that these services are too expensive. However, those who invested in BBS have time and time again admitted to us that their day, quite frankly, would have been a “hot mess” had we not been in the house! We can help you avoid that too.
What form of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, checks and money orders. Once we receive your non-refundable retainer, we are pleased to be able to offer the option of setting up automatic payments. With automatic payment set-up, you will never have to worry about sending checks and you will not have to be bothered with financial matters on the day of your event.
